Gordon Hayward Retires After 14 NBA Seasons

Veteran Forward Hangs Up His Jersey

After 14 seasons in the NBA, All-Star forward Gordon Hayward has announced his retirement.

Hayward, who spent time with the Utah Jazz, Boston Celtics, Charlotte Hornets, and Oklahoma City Thunder, made the announcement on social media Thursday.

The 32-year-old Hayward played 72 games in the 2018-19 season, but never reached the 55-game mark in a regular season again. He averaged 15.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game over his career.

Hayward was a two-time All-Star and helped lead the Celtics to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2017 and 2018.

In a statement released on Thursday, Hayward said that he is "excited for the next chapter" of his life.

"I want to thank my family, my teammates, my coaches, and all of the fans who have supported me throughout my career," Hayward said. "I will always cherish the memories I have made in this game."
